Over the past 20 years women had got their platform. Women’s economic activity in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) has increased. It was calculated that 30% of women in the Middle East is economically active. And in North Africa the estimation reached to 40 – 60 percent. However, share of women in the Middle East and North Africa countries is greater than South Asia or Sub Sahara region.
Women in MENA are now well educated. Though their labor force participation is low compared to other regions in the world but proved to be great entrepreneur. Later, women in MENA countries were victims of the society which was patriarchal in nature but now they were praised for their reproductive role only. Earlier and even now in some region of MENA women have to face some restriction in accessing credit from banks and lending institution. They were asked to bring their husband signature or permission before granting any loan or financial help to them. There was huge limitation for women in terms of economic opportunities. But now such obstacles were removed and women can start their own business.
