It is also helpful to have a notebook and something to write with as you read. Write down questions or thoughts that you have about the text. This helps to keep you reading and not slow you down by pondering one question or thought. Later, you can ask your pastor or another believer your questions.

Reading it with an attitude of humility to grow in your relationship with God is the best way to read it. Before you begin your reading, stop for a moment and pray.
