This is a short list of the more popular movies put up on the big screen in 2008. This list consists of the movies I enjoyed watching this year. I’m sure that you can find a picture or two that are good viewing.
ROLE MODELS: Danny (Paul Rudd) and Wheeler (William Scott), who sell energy drinks, are going to see some hard jail time because they binged, and trashed the company truck. The option to get out of going to prison is to perform 150 hours of community service. The problem is they will need to mentor troubled kids as sort of a big brother. The pieces are all in place for this to be very funny.
IRON MAN: Weapons developer, business mogul, Tony Stark is kidnapped by Afghan rebels. They command him to create weapon systems for the insurgent group. He was wounded during his capture, and has metal in his chest. To overcome his wound, and get away from the rebels, he designs a suit of armor, which makes him virtually invincible. Iron Man is born.
HAMLET 2: Failed actor Mr. Marshz now finds himself teaching high school theatre to bored and unmotivated kids. When the high school loses a major building, the school administration feels that the acting classes will have to go. Fully inspired, he tries to keep the school from dropping his classes by producing Hamlet 2, a new version of the classic, which he writes himself.
JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH: On a quest to find his brother, Professor Trevor Anderson travels to Iceland, and that sends him into the depths of our planet. This is a newer edition of the 1959 film, which was about the brilliant book by celebrated writer Jules Verne. Cast includes Brendan Fraser, Josh Hutchinson, Anita Briem, and Seth Myers.
WANTED: Wesley Gibson is about to learn that his long lost father is a contract killer. When his father is killed, Wesley is basically forced into the organization that his dead father was involved with. He is asked to become the killing expert that he was meant to be. From there, things get extremely complicated. Enjoy the ride.
STEP BROTHERS: Two forty year old child adults, who each live with their single parents, are going to share a room because their mom and dad get married, you can only imagine the mess. With Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly as the key players, and you have the ingredients for a raucous comedy. This film is a sure fire bet for comedy lovers.
Jumper: While almost drowning, David Rice discovers an amazing thing. He has the ability to transport himself to any place he wants to go, at any time. Eventually, he discovers that he is not alone in having this skill. Unfortunately, after a few years of fun, he finds out that there are those that are trying to rid the world of jumpers. Now he is in a fight for survival, as those people believe he should die.
THE CHRONICALS OF NARNIA, PRINCE CASPIAN: It’s only about one down the road in their normal lives when, the four saviors of Narnia, Lucy, Susan, Peter, and Edmund magically reappear in Narnia. Running for his life, Prince Caspian has blown the magic horn, in a desperate plea for help. In their one year at home, centuries have passed in Narnia, but they have been called back to battle for the freedom of Narnia once again. With the aid of the best fighters in the Narnia, including a very brave mouse, they conquer their foes and free Narnia.
ZACK AND MIRI MAKE A PORNO: The bills aren’t getting paid and Zack and Miri, roommates and good friends, really need to find an answer to their money problems. Their solution? Simple, start making porno flicks. As one can expect this sets the stage for lots of laughs.
Most people buy or rent films, and watch them at home. A new way people are acquiring movies is by downloading them directly off websites. There are websites that will download virtually any movie ever made.
