Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan and the country’s pink city, is a lovely tourist destination which is noted for its culture, monuments and markets. But there are a number of pleasant tourist attractions just around the city and many of them are too good to let go. So, if you are enjoying a week-long stay in Jaipur and do not mind heading for a day trip to one of these attractions, then you can so easily double up your fun.
Just to help you further, we would offer you a brief profile of the best tourist attractions near Jaipur:
i. Ranthambore: It is India’s best wildlife sanctuary and one which is the subject of thorough documentation by the teams of Discovery and NatGeo. It is only 157 km away from Jaipur and is reachable by bus or car or cab in a little less than 3 hours. The biggest attraction of Ranthambore is surely the tiger, but there are plenty more animals, reptiles and birds waiting for your gait.
ii. Agra: Agra, the home to Taj Mahal, is another tourist attraction near Jaipur which can be reached in just 4 hours. Distanced from the pink city by barely 232 km, it makes for a great day trip.
iii. Udaipur: Anyone who visits Jaipur must also visit its cousin Udaipur which is best described in text books as the city of palaces and lakes! 418 km away from Jaipur, it would take you around 6-7 hours to reach Udaipur. You can either catch a train or book a private car. Alternatively, a number of luxury and semi-luxury buses run from Jaipur to Udaipur. They can drop you at just Rs 400-800 (prices vary, depending on the state of luxury you require).
iv. Bikaner: Bikaner is the ultimate heritage town of Rajasthan and a city which is still reeling under its rustic charm and old-age glory. With those ghostly-looking havelis and grumpy camels, Bikaner is a town you must visit if you wish to take a real look into the cultural Rajasthan. It is around 379 km away from Jaipur and can be reached in around 6-7 hours.
v. Jodhpur: 330 km away, we have the beautiful city of Jodhpur which is pretty much similar to Jaipur and Udaipur in terms of attractions but still retains its own individuality. It is reachable in around 5.5 hours.
While there are scores of tourist places in Jaipur itself (including the likes of Hawa Mahal and Jantar Mantar), once you are done with them, you should spare some time and money to check out some of the above-mentioned attractions.
