Often trying to decide what would make the best Christmas toy for your child can be a real struggle. Children many times have a huge wish list filled with the hottest and most popular toys. No doubt commercialism has a big impact on your child’s wish list.
Every child is different with lifestyles that vary. Because of this, what would be considered the best Christmas toy for one child would not necessarily be true for another child. But one thing that does hold true is when children open their presents and they are overcome with an abundance of joy, then you have chosen well.
When shopping for Christmas toys there are numerous ones to choose from. Here are three tips to consider when you are shopping for Christmas toys:
1. Choose a toy that is age appropriate for your child. It is a good idea to follow the manufacture’s recommendation for appropriate ages for their toy. But as with most things, exceptions do exist.
All children develop differently. Their development will vary in terms of skill levels, social, physical, creative and emotional growth. As a result of this, the age recommendation for the toy as suggested by the manufacture is only a guideline. After reviewing the toy, if you believe it is one that is well suited for your child, even though the age recommendation may not match, don’t let this deter you from selecting it.
2. An overwhelmingly popular toy does not mean that it is the best Christmas toy for your child. Often a gift related to a child’s favorite interests, a collection or hobby would make the best gift for them.
When choosing a best Christmas toy consider this example: A child has a special interest in dinosaurs. Then giving your child a gift related to that interest such as a DVD about dinosaurs, a video game on dinosaurs or a dinosaur themed poster for their room could easily become their best Christmas gift.
3. Well constructed and durable are two important pointed too consider when selecting a toy. When a child starts crying on Christmas because they broke the new toy that Santa left it is indeed sad. There is no toy that is indestructible. This is why durability is very important to consider when purchasing a toy. If a toy cannot hold up to a child’s play, then it is not worth considering.
