1. Have a clue
Central Asia is huge! 1,545,741 sq. miles (4,003,451 sq. kilometers) to be exact! Do your research and decide what you want to see/do compared to how much time you’ve got. Five Stans Adventure offers many suggestions to fit your requirements, but we are amenable to the type of itinerary that you want to build, too.
2. Passport and Visas
Make sure that your passport is valid and will remain active for at least 6 months before the start of your Central Asia Tours. If you need to renew your passport, be prepared to wait approximately 1 month for it to be ready. However, there are some situations where it can be returned quicker. Check with your country’s passport requirements to help you budget your time effectively.
Visa requirements vary between each of the five countries that define Central Asia. Currently, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan offer a visa-free regime for many countries, while Uzbekistan requires a visa for most visitors that will read this blog. Turkmenistan, like Uzbekistan, requires tourists to obtain a letter of invitation from a registered tour operator. This letter is attached to your visa application when it’s sent to the embassy of choice. For Tajikistan, a visa must be obtained before your arrival, although it’s possible to get one at the airport if you’re arriving from a country that doesn’t have an embassy. In general, costs for visas vary with the duration of your visit and fall into the $ 50 – $ 100 range. In all these countries, you must register with the OVIR.
Of course, Five Stans Adventure can provide support for your visa application and your OVIR registration!
