A backup of your documents and important files is very necessary. You can’t always know when your system will go down. It is a very healthy practice to always backup your files to devices like CDs, CD-RWs, USBs, Memory cards, External Hard drives and etc. The most popular backup storage might be a new hard drive and external hard drives. But these could cost a lot of fortune with prices starting at $ 50. USBs and memory cards are nice storage devices but, mostly they are used for transferring purposes not for backup. And besides, these memory cards and USB sticks are too small in size that it is likely to be misplaced or lost. A lost backup storage is good as having no backup at all.
There are many alternatives to make a backup of your important documents. The most ideal method is creating backup of the files by burning them into CDs. A better choice is a CD RW. Well it works just like an ordinary CD but, you need not to keep bulks of it. A CD RW is way better than a regular CD because, unlike the CD, CD RWs can be reused once files have been burned to it. It means that a CD RW can have its existing files erased and new files can be burned into, which the “RW” means rewritable. Of course a single CD RW can cost a little bit much compared to a regular CD but, you do not have to buy lots of CD RWs. So practically using CD RWs for backup storage is much cheaper.
CDs are costing about less than $ 15 per 50-CD pack while, CD RWs cost just a little over $ 20. CD RWs are very advantageous compared to ordinary CDs because they can be reused to store in new information. Movies and music files would be best stored using CDs but dynamic files like documents and information which users constantly change them while at work would be best stored on CD RWs because, it gives them the option to change the information contained in the CD. They would like to update it much often so that in case of a system crash, one do not like their backup files to be very primitive in comparison to the original file they are working on the pc.
There are several softwares available to simplify the reusing of CD RWs. These programs are commonly bundled with the features of simplifying the burning of data to an ordinary data CD or CD RW. One feature distinctive to CD RWs is the tool to erase all files found in the CD RW. When all the existing data has been removed, your CD RW will be good as new. From there one can burn new data to the CD RW as long as the total files to be burned do not exceed the capacity of the CD RW.
So USB are good only for transferring files not for backup purposes. But CD RWs works better at this job because, any programs including viruses cannot gain access to change or delete the files in a CD RW without the permission of a user. A very great way to backup your files is also doing a regular maintenance of your pc. Closely checking the remaining disk space may give you a hint to prepare backup copies of your files. Removing unnecessary applications and files to reduce disk usage and to check up and repair systems errors to reduce the chances of system crashes.
