Snell (Snell Memorial Foundation), DOT (The federal Government’s Department of Transportation) is the two organizations setting safety standards for motorcycle helmets in the United States. DOT helmet sets the minimum standard for all the helmets, which are sold for motorcycling on public streets. Snell Helmet sets voluntary standards for the motorcycle helmets to a private, non-profit organization, which use bicycle helmets and auto racing helmets, and all kinds of protective headgear.
