When planning for a leisure or business trip we always automatically think of luxury hotels. One option that we overlook is that of serviced apartments. Serviced apartments are furnished apartments leased out for short or long term stay. While booking for holiday/ business trips hotels is the only option that occurs to us, and with so many holiday packages it is obvious to think of hotels. Serviced apartments apart from the basic amenities also provide a lot of modern facilities that a hotel might not provide. Lets look at the pros and cons of a serviced apartments and luxury hotels.
Serviced apartments usually are preferred for long stays as they are cheaper or equivalent to what the hotels charge. They give a lot home like feeling. There is difference in the basic layouts of an apartment and hotels. The apartments are fully furnished with bedrooms, fully equipped kitchen, lounge, TV room and balcony. Also there is added space to work and play, more comfort and privacy. While in a hotel you only have rooms and a lounge.
While in hotels they provide you with fridge stuffed with overpriced drinks. An apartment will have an empty fridge so you can store whatever you wish and cook whenever you wish in the kitchen which is provided with minimal cooking equipments. Having a kitchen means you can eat in instead of out, that saves a lot of money.
Few apartments also provide you with washing machines and dryers while others have a common room for washing machine where u can wait your turn for washing. It is a cheaper option than using the laundry service of the hotels.
Other difference between a hotel and an apartment is the ambiance. While you get more or less the same ambiance at luxury hotels, apartments are all differently made and furnished. You get to stay in a new place each time you travel while staying in an apartment.
If one needs to be pampered then hotels would be the choice because you don’t have to worry about cleaning the room and bathrooms, doing your own laundry etc. All the hotels provide daily housekeeping services to the guests. In a serviced apartment they clean it when you arrive, but don’t expect them to change your sheets daily and clean your bathroom daily; although a free weekly housekeeping service is available at few apartments.
The other limitation of a serviced apartment is that of finding the right place. It requires a lot of internet research than just simply booking through a website that offers a lot of deals.
There are pros and cons for both luxury hotels and serviced apartments. To make your holiday a comfortable and memorable one make sure to look around, collect a lot of information for both and pick accordingly.
