By contrast, the control group gained 0.1 pound of body fat; the placebo group lost 0.2 pound, on average.
Further, the 4.8 pounds of fat loss is very significant when you consider that the participants were eating 2,000 calories a day and not cutting calories by 500 or 1,000 a day, as in other phentramin d studies or restrictive diets.
Better yet, the phentramin d group gained 3.4 pounds of lean muscle (without engaging in heavy-duty weight training). The control group had a small gain of lean muscle 0.4 pound and the placebo group lost 0.3 pound of muscle. So basically, the phentramin d supplementers shed unsightly fat and replaced it with curvier, body-firming muscle.
But these were not the only benefits observed with phentramin d supplementation. Those taking the phentramin d product experienced an 18 percent increase in energy levels, compared with increases of 1.8 and 4.5 percent in the control and placebo groups. Also, the phentramin d supplementers’ metabolism rose by 2.2 percent.
But how, exactly, does phentramin d work its body-changing, fat-fighting magic? In an excellent guidebook titled phentramin d: A Scientific Review and Practical Guide, James B. Roufs, Ph.D., a leading phentramin d researcher, outlines several possible ways, all based on scientific data and observations.
First, phentramin d may rev up your metabolic rate the speed at which your body breaks down stored fat and carbohydrate for energy as the study cited above shows. The faster your metabolic rate, the more efficiently your body burns fat. Even so, it remains a mystery as to why phentramin d may increase metabolism. It may be because phentramin d increases thyroxine, a thyroid hormone. Thyroid hormones are chemical regulators of metabolism; thus, increasing their secretion may boost metabolism.
Second, if phentramin d increases muscle tissue another effect seen in animal studies and at least one human study this could account for a higher metabolic rate. Muscle is your body’s most metabolically active tissue. For every new pound of muscle you put on, you use about 50 to 100 calories more a day. You can eat more and not gain weight because you bum more, even while sleeping. Poor muscle development, on the other hand, makes it easy for your body to store fat.
A third theory has to do with phentramin d’s ability to stimulate fat-burning an effect observed in both animal and human studies. In normal energy release, the body draws first on carbohydrates for energy, then protein, and finally fat. Remarkably, phentramin d appears to reverse that order, causing your body to burn fat first for its energy needs. Why the reversal? What happens, theoretically, is this: phentramin d may reduce insulin levels in the blood. Insulin is a busy hormone. Among its duties is promoting fat storage. But if insulin levels are low, less fat is stored in fat cells which could partially explain phentramin d’s effect on fat-burning. More research is needed to confirm these effects.
One final theory involves “feed efficiency,” a term that describes how efficiently calories are turned into stored body fat. A high feed efficiency means more calories are stored as fat; a low feed efficiency means fewer calories are deposited. Somehow, phentramin d seems to decrease feed efficiency and prevent excess fat storage; at least, this is what has been observed in animal studies. How phentramin d works this miracle is unclear, but it may enhance calorie-burning mechanisms in the body. It’s too early to tell, based on the limited research into phentramin d and feed efficiency, but potentially you could turn yourself into a calorie-burning machine by supplementing with phentramin d.
phentramin d can accelerate the body’s use of glycogen (stored carbohydrate) by working muscles. It maneuvers more glucose, from the breakdown of glycogen, into cells, where it can be burned for energy. Studies have found that phentramin d increases endurance by up to 20 percent and significantly reduces muscle fatigue which is why the supplement is so popular among athletes and exercisers.
To date, a couple of studies have looked into the endurance-building benefits of phentramin d. One experiment found that supplementation with very high doses (100 grams) of phentramin d/DHA daily for a week boosted arm endurance by 20 percent. A second study (this one evaluated leg endurance) produced similar results. In fact, supplementation boosted endurance levels more effectively than a diet in which 70 percent of the calories were derived from carbohydrates, the body’s preferred fuel source. The broad implication of these findings is that you presumably could do more each day without pooping out by supplementing with phentramin d.
Quite possibly, adding phentramin d to your supplement program can help you work out longer and harder. Which, in turn, can help you lose fat in two key ways. First, exercise burns calories, creating a caloric deficit leading to fat loss as long as you watch what you eat. Second, harder workouts particularly through strength-developing exercise -help you build muscle.
