When we lose to God we actually become more empowered against the kingdom of darkness. To lose to God is to surrender to His will and to go about sharing His plan for salvation. Giving up our beliefs, thoughts and will power and replacing them with the wisdom and power of God is an act of great submission. God changes our hearts and minds when we express this activity in sincerity and truth.
Losing to God doesn’t happen overnight. We might have to fall down on our faces a number of times and get back up. We will face frustration and disappointment at times, especially when our progress seems too slow. But this is a test of our patience. For example, if you are a parent who has been praying for a rebellious son or daughter, the child’s behavior may get worse before it gets better. If you are an employer praying for the prosperity of your business, you may have to endure some difficult market conditions before your business begin to generate revenue. However, if you submit these worries and concerns to God, your troubles will pass while your heart remains peaceful. This is the will of God. A peaceful heart in the middle of great upheaval is a sign that you have surrendered the situation to God in perfect submission.
Prerequisite for Losing to God
In order to lose to God you must have a willingness to repent of our sinful habits and routines as well as meditate in scripture for the internalization of God’s word in our hearts. We must schedule this activity for at least ten to fifteen minutes a day. Repentance is the first step in submitting ourselves to God. In repentance, we confess our sins and accept the Christ in our hearts. We confess that we have come to the realization that our attempts to live a free and happy life have failed. We give up pride so that humility can manifest within our hearts. Biblical scripture says that God resisted the proud but gives grace to the humble. Humility is a prerequisite for repentance.
Internalizing God’s Word
Internalizing the word of God increases our faith in Him while discouraging faith within ourselves. Reading God’s word allows us to see how much our safety and security depend on His mercy and grace. The more we search out scripture that relates to our condition or situation and internalize these aspects of truth, the more we lose to God and gain His life. We begin to walk the walk of the divine and talk the talk of the divine.
The Quiet Environment
The importance of a quiet environment is vital when it comes to meditating and internalizing God’s world. When we are surrounded by loud talking, blaring music and ringing cell phones, it is hard to stay concentrated on God’s word. A loud environment prevents us for generating the focus needed to internalize scripture. Therefore, we must find a backroom, attic or basement in order to give effective attention to the word of God. The word of God tells us that in quietness and strength will gather confidence.
Losing to God means winning against Satan and his kingdom. The more we lose to God the more of ourselves die. We stop rejecting and hating others, promoting our own personalities, and remaining unforgiving to all those who have offended us. When this happens, Satan has less and less power over our lives and affairs because our devotion to God becomes more maximized and final.
