According to the national Urban Land Institute, Seattle is finding itself recovering nicely from the housing bust from a few years ago. Seattle might be known for its rainy days and nights, but it’s also becoming quickly known as a great place to put your money if you want to invest in real estate. Right now, Seattle finds itself ranked at number seven on the list of overall best real estate markets for 2013.
It was last year that the housing recovery got back into full swing for the Seattle real estate market. Particularly in August and September of 2012, the dynamic real estate market in Seattle found itself with the highest jump in home values since the housing bust in 2007. What is driving the growth? Several factors:
A new influx of younger adults with money to spend.
Known as echo boomers, these generational replacements for their elders are generally well-educated and have a steady job in the tech, advertising or medical industry, these new adults are flocking to Seattle for its well-known contemporary culture, Seattle’s high walkability score and large amount of LEED certified housing.
Job Growth is forecasted to grow exponentially in 2013 in Seattle
As the tech hotbed of the Pacific Northwest, the strong tech industry attracts many young adults who want to build their own startup businesses in the area. Seattle has been ranked as the #1 destination for workers aged 18-29 according to a new study from Payscale. Seattle is currently outperforming other Tech hotbeds like Houston, New York, Dallas and San Diego. Particularly good growth is being seen in the South Lake area as a result of Amazon’s recent investment for their large facilities there. Microsoft and its home base of Redmond nearby
Seattle also saw strong housing growth.
