In a recent occurrence, two girls were strolling along the road when one of them was abducted by a moving car in broad daylight itself. Everyone was left in a daze. The victim after being repeatedly raped was dumped on the roadside. The only silver lining was she was still alive and not murdered.
Recapitulating to the times back in 1870 when the first newspaper, The Bengal Gazette, was published in India till today’s plethora of new channels and newspapers, the media industry here has travelled a long way. In the crime front, cases of women police officers subjected to attacks and molestation in the national capital Delhi have risen with fourteen such occurrences accounted till July 31 this year. According to Lok Sabha, the figure is equal to the collective number of similar cases in the previous three years which is pretty alarming. The Government should put in more efforts to raise awareness and sensitize every strata of the society to the different burning issues.
